Coming up very soon is another wentwood race, this time its a mountainbike enduro taking place on Sunday 6th March 2011. There will be two loops of 25km and 50km. Theres a variety of terrain with a mix of natural singletrack, fireroads and tarmac at the start. There is a rider limit so get your entries in soon, its all for a local charity as well. For more information visit the website at www.Wentwood50.co.uk!!
Some of you may be aware that there has been tree thinning going on at and around the track the last few months. Fortunately it only affects the top section of the track and no major damage was caused this time. The top section has now been cleared with the addition of a few minor track alterations so is now ridable again.
Wentwood downhill was started by a number of Wentwood's local riders. We aim to keep the track running smoothly with regular maintenance and also add new obstacles to keep the track challenging whilst also being a great destination for novice riders.
We would like to thank Jason (Dragon Downhill) for allowing us to maintain the track. And also to the woodland trust and forestry commission for working with us to maintain Wentwood as a MTB destination.
If there is anyone willing to help out and do some work on the track then please contact me as all help is gratefully received. Currently in the open section the vegitation needs to be cleared back so anyone willing to help please contact me via the contact page.
It was a great race back in march, and despite it being a push up race the entries were full with 200 riders racing on the day. For results and a video of the day then please read on. Read More
We have re - built the bottom section which previously had turned into a long rut due to drainage and MX issues. The New bottom section starts in the same place but forks off around the first corner. It is easy to see but Please Look before you ride.
To comply with the changes suggested by the Woodland trust at our last meeting there have been some changes to the current track. These Start from the straight before the first compression until where the first road gap use to be. For full information on the track changes and also pictures of the new section click here
Always wear protective equipment, a minimum of Helmet (Full face advised), Knee/Shin pads and gloves. Give right of way to walkers and horse riders at any point on the track. Please take your litter home with you or place it in the bag provided. Ride within your limits! We are NOT responsible for any injuries that may occur.
