FOD race

Postby Tom on Tue Nov 18, 2008 5:04 pm

Who is going to this then?
I know a few of you said you was entering.
As far as i know its me, gaz and dan.
Should be good, need to go up and practice one weekend before though. The only tricky bit i can think of is the 2 little drops near the top.
You have the rooty right hander then a left out in the open and you go back into the woods and theres 2 rocky drops. The first is quite steep if i remember though. Someone said jump them both but as far as i remember it was to steep to land into. Anyone know a fast way through it? Will need to go up and have a browse i think.

i should be up for going the weekend after next. cant help you with the drop section sorry as ive never been on the track. im still thinking about putting my name down for a laugh. they are trying to promote the race to newcomers so the track cant be that difficult. hopefully :? due to the weather i've only been doing urban downhill at the moment. be nice to get out on the proper surface.

I think it may have sold out :(
But saying that a few people have had their names put down twice (me included) so that may be taking up a few places, if it is i hope he sorts it out to free up a few more places.
The track the race is on isnt that hard but as most people will use the same line it may be an idea to try and find an alternate quicker line :)

I went up last Saturday just to have a look, the place was heaving all talk was of the race,if it carries on like that there will be one big rut line to the bottom,i was looking about to see if theres any alternatives but pretty much every line was being used,im going up Thursday with the bike for some sneaky runs as ive never ridden it either looks easy enough though, should be a fun day.

Me and gaz are going up this Sunday for a practice.
I imagine it will be heaving with people as well but as long as they dont get in my way i dont mind :)
In my head i have some good lines but seeing as i have never sessioned that section whether they will work i dont know. I will try and time myself and see what time i get.

It was pretty busy on sunday, not exactly hundreds but there was a steady showing of riders.
Some fool has taken about 1/2 a foot off the bottom double meaning you have to proper crank it to get well onto the landing. Pain in the ass after you have been pedaling the majority of the way down.
Anyway should be good fun, i am confident on the bottom section now just need some some more runs of the top, but there was loads of uncertainty as to where the first section would be.

Forgot what a killer on the legs the push was though  maybe im just unfit, probably the reason.

Yeah Sunday was good laugh. Apart from the stupid crossers making loads of noise and annoying people. A riot van did turn up but as usual, were too late. I caught the bug good and proper on Sunday. Im definitelyy going up to watch Sunday but ill probably take the bike aswell to go on the others tracks. That sheep's head route was pretty good. Good luck those are racing. Ill see you there

For those racing

http://nps4x.com/joomla/images/stories/ ... t-fod.html

The start list has been posted up with your first run times. Then you will be seeded for your second run by the results of your first run.

Depending on how long it is between my 1st and 2nd run i may keep myself active and have a play on the top tracks for a while. So may go ride with you for a bit.
